In the part II of this series, I talked about how you can use LogoMaker to create your very own WordPress logo. LogoMaker is a great solution, but what if you are not satisfied with the abstract logos that you get with LogoMaker. You can always try LogoYes. In fact, LogoYes is the site that I used to develop the logo for my start-up company. The quality of logos are slightly better than those provided by LogoMaker, and the interface is as user-friendly.
LogoYes’ design process is very similar to that of LogoMaker. Essentially, you are provided with three classes of designs to choose for your logo. If you are a high-tech company, you may want to choose the high-tech class, and you can use the same approach if you are in other industries. Once you have chosen your design class, you are provided with a list of industries that you can choose for your business.
Once you choose your symbol, you get the chance to add text to it (similar to LogoMaker). Here is where LogoYes defers from LogoMaker. You have a sub-class under each class, and as a result you have access to more abstract logos here (all the logos are black and white until you change them).
Once you have chosen your image, you get a chance to add text and customize its look. You are provided with the design canvas which you can use to resize your images, flip your logo, or change its color.
Once you have chosen your logo, you can then get a chance to design your business card as well. LogoYes has a comprehensive business card design program that allows you to find the design that is right for you.
LogoYes is an innovative Do it yourself logo solution for anyone interested in designing logos for cheap. You don’t have to break the bank to get your logo and business cards. The application is very easy to use, and you get to save and edit your logo until you decide to download it (you are provided with different file formats including EPS). If you are starting a new blog, and you are passionate about it, you may want to invest a little to start your branding as soon as possible.

One of the best ways to get folks involved with your WordPress blog is by allowing them to opportunity to interact with you and your website. There are many ways to do that. You can allow folks to chat with you right on the side. You can allow folks to move things around on your site. Or if you are using Viva Viral UserPics, you can let folks submit their photos, art work, and so on.
Viva Viral Userpics is very easy to use. You allow your users to upload their image (as long as it is within the size limit) and upload them to your site. Now before you jump and complain about security issues, you get a chance to approve every image, so your WordPress installation is safe.
Once your users add their photos and you confirm them, their images show up on your carousel (see above image). There are many ways to use Viva Viral UserPics. You can use it to display your sponsors’ offers. You can also charge folks to add their photos if your site is very popular. But even more important than that, the interactivity that this plug-in adds to your website can get you new visitors fast.

The plug-in is very easy to use and is highly customizable. You can change the way arrows are displayed or create more sophisticated designs by changing the CSS. Most modern themes come with similar featured sections already, but if you have one of those old themes that does not have such a feature, you can easily enhance its capabilities by downloading WP Rotate Posts.

If you have been online for a while, there is a good chance that you have heard of AllTop. AllTop is a news aggregator that allows you to track your favorite topics easily by tuning in to its feed pages. Those guys have done an awesome job of covering any topic under the sun. But as good as AllTop is, you can still find topics that are not covered on it (it’s not that easy!). Well, fear not! You can now create your own AllTop copycat WordPress site without really having to do too much programming.
OneNews is a WordPress theme that allows you to create your very own AllTop copycat WordPress site in a flash. All you have to do is install the theme and add RSS feeds to it. Just like AllTop, feeds are classified under their respective letters. You can also show videos from YouTube, MetaCafe, and other video networking sites. OneNews uses SimplePie RSS to display the feeds on your pages. The theme is compatible with WordPress 2.7, and it supports threaded comments.
There is no plug-in required to get OneNews to work. You are provided with 4 widgets (video, text, HTML, photo) that you can use to customize your pages. You also have access to tools to resize font, change background color, and share your page on social networking sites. You may also be worried about your link juice. Well, fear not my friends. You can nofollow links if you prefer.
Verdict: A-. OneNews is a great theme for folks who are interested in running their own version of AllTop. And you can do it right from your WordPress blog. There are no plug-ins necessary, and you won’t have to spend a fortune to get it done (only $49). I would like to see recent visits page (like you see on AllTop.com), but that can be programmed (if you know your PHP). Now, before you go and create your AllTop copycat, know this: It will be tough to outdo those guys in what they do. You may want to go after topics that are not covered on AllTop. But for $50, you get one powerful theme to get started fast.
