There are certainly things you can do to improve your chances of getting ranked high on the search engines. Let’s face it. Writing good quality posts and using your keywords in your posts are only a small part of the process. You are going to have to work on other on-page and off-page tactics to make your WordPress website as search-engine friendly as possible.

Your internal link structure is one of the factors that could play a role on how well your pages are ranked by Google and how often your site gets crawled. Linking to your pages with the right keywords can help Google and other engines get a better understanding of what your site is about and how they should go about ranking all your pages. That’s where Smart SEO Links comes into play. It’s a powerful SEO plugin for WordPress that automatically generate links to your internal pages (in your posts, comments, and …) and helps you maximize your traffic and get your visitors to stay on your website longer.

SEO Smart Links is pretty easy to use. All you have to do is install it on your blog and let it know how you want it to treat your posts, pages, and comments. You can use the plugin to automatically generate links to your other posts and pages on your blog. It is also possible to have it link to “self” from each post on your blog. What I like about the plugin is its flexibility and options. For instance, we all know that links in headers could be ugly or look out of place. This plugin gives you the option to avoid that possibility.

The plugin goes through your words and finds words that it can use to link to your internal pages. You can also define words that you want to be used as links in your posts. Of course, you have the option to define an ignore list for this plugin.

SEO Smart Links is truly smart. It keeps you in control and lets you define how you want your links to behave. You can no follow your links and make them open in a new window by automatically adding target property to your links. It’s also possible to define a limit for the plugin to keep it from going wild on your posts.

If you are looking for an easy way to improve the internal link structure of your blog and optimize your site for the search engines, SEO Smart Links is a great free plugin you should install on your blog.
<div

That’s not much in comparison to some of the bigger portals out there. But at the same time, the sheer size of the site makes it too difficult to make the smallest changes to the structure of the site. When I purchased the website from the previous owner, I had every intention of changing the internal structure of the site to maximize the link juice flow and improve my site’s PR. One big problem with the site was the permalink structure that was used on the site. The URLs were just too long and not search engine friendly. If you change your permalinks structure without doing the ground work beforehand, you leave yourself open to search engine penalties and loss in traffic. Don’t forget that people who have bookmarked your pages won’t be able to find your pages once you make the switch. So how do you approach such a problem?

One easy way to do it is by writing a script that 301 redirect every one of your old link to their new location. That way you don’t lose your traffic and won’t get penalized by Google and other search engines. Of course, if you don’t know any coding, you can always use Permalinks Migration (even if you do, this could save you a lot of time). Permalinks Migration lets you 301 redirect your old links to your new links without doing too much work. All you have to do is define your old permalink structure:

Here is how the developers explain the concept behind this plugin:

There is a way to tell the search engines (and browsers) that the page has permanently moved, and that the old address should be replaced by the new one . It’s called a “301 Redirect”, also known as a Permanent Redirect. When you do this, Search engines will update their indexes quickly and you won’t lose your pagerank.you will continue to receive traffic as though nothing had changed. This works for search engines, bookmarks, and links from other sites…. This plugin will generates a “301 Redirect” when user or spider visit your site through old permalinks, and redirect them to the new permalinks of the same post.

All in all, if you have a huge portal and want to change your permalinks structure, fear no more. With Permalinks Migration, you can easily 301 redirect your old links to their new location and won’t have to write a single line of code. How cool is that?
<div

Some don’t even know how to start the optimization process. Now I am not suggesting that getting ranked for those general, highly competitive terms are easy, but if you don’t know what SEO is and have no idea how to track your search engine rankings, you have got work to do. That’s where SEO Booster Pro comes in. SEO Booster is a very easy to use SEO plugin for WordPress that is designed to help you figure out what you are doing right SEO-wise, and how you can increase your presence on the SERPs.

SEO Booster is designed to help webmasters from all walks of life to track their progress on search engines and find areas that they need to improve their sites upon to increase their presence on the SERPs. Here is what I love about SEO Booster. Once you install the plugin, it’s going to go to work for you, collecting all the incoming keywords and the landing page associated with them. It even tells you your ranking on the SERPs so you know how much you need to improve. You can always write posts day in and day out and hope for the best, or you can approach SEO scientifically, track your results, and improve areas that may give you a better chance of getting ranked higher on Google and other engines.

SEO Booster shows you the top 10 search queries based on the number of visits to your site. It also shows you which landing page these visitors have landed on. If you run the plugin long enough, it’s going to lock on your position as well. This information is highly valuable as you can figure out whether you have mapped out your keywords-pages relationship right. But it gets better. The plugin can also show you the last 35 visits to your site from the SERPs. It even gives you the query used by your visitors. This is pretty useful as you can figure out what areas you need to focus on and keep watching the data to track your progress. The plugin is also flexible enough to let you turn off those bogus search terms such as numbers.

SEO Booster is great for tracking your positions on search engines, but it’s more than just that. You can set it up to automatically change your titles and h1 tags and replace them with the most searched terms related to your blog posts. You can also create a list below your post and display those precious terms on your pages.

In summary, here are a few reasons I love SEO Booster Pro:

Tracking: it makes it easy to track your progress on search engines and find out areas you need to improve upon.

Keywords: finds you new keywords that you can optimize for to get even more traffic.

SEO Mapping: helps you find out how your keywords and landing pages are related and how you can map out the right keyword-page pairs.

Data: you can download your data in CSV format and analyze it more effectively.

Trends: based on your traffic and the pages that people have seen on your website, you can find new blog ideas to work on.

All in all, SEO Booster Pro is a wonderful plugin for beginner and pro bloggers who want to get the most traffic out of the top search engines. It helps you track and analyze your search data, allowing you to come up with a better SEO strategy for your blog. Whether you are a newbie to the world of SEO or an expert search engine professional, you are going to love the convenience of having this plugin retrieve your SEO data for you over time. Google is not a switch that you can turn on to open the traffic floodgates. But you can always try to optimize every aspect of your WordPress for SEO to make sure you show up higher on the search engine results pages (SERPs). There are plenty of things you can do to optimize your blog for search engines. But what you can’t afford to do is ignore your title and other important tags on WordPress. Your title tag is one of the most important SEO factors you can optimize your site for. It may not get you to the top of the search engine rankings by itself, but it certainly helps.

WordPress is a dynamic system, which is optimizing your title tags for your individual pages, categories, archives, and posts can be tricky. But thanks to HeadSpace, you can easily automate the tagging process and not only save yourself a lot of time but also increase your rankings dramatically.

As the above image demonstrates, you can optimize every single page on your site for search engines. You do want to pay extra attention to your homepage as its the heart of every SEO campaign. Your posts are also important, so make sure you use keywords that give you the best shot at getting ranked. HeadSpace makes it easy to automate the tagging process. All you have to do is use the special tags available to you to get the title tags you are looking for:

What I like about HeadSpace is that it also helps you take care of other small details that you can use to increase your PageRank and SEO ranking. For instance, you can control your follow/nofollow links on your pages as well. After all, you don’t want to follow link to any website.

Once you install HeadSpace, you are going to see its box under your post area. So you can optimize your posts on the spot before submitting them to be published. Overall, HeadSpace is one of the best SEO plugins around. It gives you total control over your tags and helps you save time in the process. If you are hoping to get a lot of traffic from search engines, you better get started with HeadSpace soon.
<div

That includes increasing your traffic as well. If you own a blog and you write posts on it on a consistent basis, you want to make sure you drive lots of traffic to it to get the best value out of your work. You can always advertise or leave comments on other blogs, but you shouldn’t ignore the organic search channel. Getting free traffic from Google, Yahoo!, and even Live.com is a must if you want to make it on the Internet. In order to do that, you need to optimize your website for search engines. WordPress may be search engine friendly but it’s not optimized for organic search. Your permalinks, title tags, slugs, and … all play a big part in you gaining the best ranking possible on search engines such as Google. So you want to make sure you have the best settings on your website to get the most free traffic.

There are lots of plugins that you can install on your WordPress blog to optimize it for organic search, but you want to make sure you don’t go overboard and damage your blog’s performance in the process. With that in mind, here are 10 cool plugins that help you get more free traffic to your blog:

1. <span

It automatically generations your title and descriptions, which means you save time.

2. <span

If you are a one man company and you intend to get into the adsense business, you are going to have a tough times creating and managing hundreds of blogs, unless you are using a service such as WordPress Direct. You can also grab PLRs and use them on your site as content. But one problem that most folks forget about is content duplication penalty.

Duplicate content is frowned upon by Google, and you can be penalized heavily by Google if your content is deemed to be duplicate of someone else’s. In essence, having duplicate contnet on your blog is the fastest way to get yourself into the supplementary index on Google. Many folks believe (incorrectly) that using private label articles helps them get around the duplicate content issue. But that can’t be further from the truth. If you can buy the articles and others can do too, then you are going to have duplicate content.

That’s what I love about Synonymizer. This cool plug-in allows you to spin words around and make your articles unique. In other words, this is like injecting steroids to your automated WordPress blog. What makes Synonymizer different from article spinners is that it not only spins all your blog posts, it directly works with WordPress.

Synonymizer is compatible with RSS2Blog and WP Auto Blog. Better yet, you can work with HTML, Javascript, and even PHP. And you are not limited to PLRs. You can also work with RSS feeds and still avoid duplicate content penalty. If you are one of those Adsense guys or just want to use auto-blogging solutions to keep your blog updated when you have no time to do it yourself, Synonymizer is a must have (see the video here). Who says you can’t be a lazy blogger?
<div
