November 8th in Wordpress Plugins by Wordpress Jedi . Have you ever been in a situation where you have needed to change a certain link or text across your website? Maybe you want to replace a certain word with an image or a piece of Javascript code. You don’t always have to do this by hand. These text, image, and link replacement plugins can help:

Text Replace: a very useful tool to create keyword shortcuts in WordPress. It lets you replace text with others texts.

Word Replacer: one of my favorite plugins in this category. It can replace words with other words, links, and other types of content. It supports regular expressions too. (more…)

But what they don’t focus on is promoting the content they have worked on already. Let’s say you blog 3 times a week. After a year, you are going to have over 150 posts on your blog. Would people still be able to find your older posts on your blog? Do you give them a way to do that on your blog? Thankfully, there are plenty of plugins that give you the opportunity to do that.
If you happen to have a lot of articles on your blog and want to give your visitors a chance to find your other top articles by linking out to them from your sidebar or below your articles, here are 5 plugins you should try:

Random Posts: if you just want to give your visitors a chance to find out about your other articles on a random basis, you can count on this cool plugin. It comes with a lot of options and lets you modify the look and feel of how articles are presented on your website.

Popular Posts: this is my favorite plugin in this bunch. It keeps track of how many people are visiting your articles and displays a list based on that information with your top visited articles at the top. No matter how many articles you have on your website, it’s always nice to have a way to display the very best of what your blog has to offer to your visitors.

0 Comments December 12th in Free Plug-ins by Wordpress Jedi . A few months ago, we had a chance to test Zemanta on one of our portals. At first, we weren’t sure how Zemanta could help us develop our portal more effectively. After all, in order to maintain a killer portal, you are going to need fresh content that provide value to visitors and a lot of them in that. Zemanta is a cool service that allows you to find content to post to your blog (and link to) fast. Zemanta is a truly innovative service that becomes a helping hand when you are writing a blog post. It will automatically fetch useful images and similar stories that you can add to the end of your blog posts to provide even more value to your visitors.
You can use Zemanta on your browser or as a plugin on WordPress. It will sit on your admin interface and will help you figure out what other stories, pictures, videos, and tags you need to be using in your posts to make your visitors’ experience on your blog richer.

Zemanta makes it very easy to grab images and posts from the web. Best of all, it will give credit for the images that you are using on your blog. So you’ll essentially won’t have to worry about infringing someone else’s copyrights as Zemanta takes the right precautions. You can also use Zemanta to link to your previous content. That comes in useful as more people come in to take advantage of your original content.

It’s easy to assume that people will find your content all by themselves. But in reality you should do your best to promote your top content to your visitors to help them better navigate through your website. If you have been using Amazon in the past, you have probably seen this concept in action. Every time you want to buy something on Amazon, you get a set of links that encourage you to visit other products that have been visited by customers just like you.

You can now implement the same concept on your WordPress blog with Where Did They Go From Here? plugin. This plugin is very easy to work with. All you have to do is install it on your blog, and it automatically tracks what pages have been visited by your audience and what the referring pages are. Those referring pages will then include links to pages that people have visited after visiting them (just like Amazon).

The first time you install this plugin, you will see nothing under your web pages. You will need to wait for your visitor to browse through your pages for the plugin to add referral links under your pages. Using this plugin in conjunction with a similar post plugin will help you promote your content more effectively. The more useful content you offer to your audience, the longer you retain it.
